MY BAUHAUS IS BETTER THAN YOURS direct into NEW TENDENCY

Hello everyone,

as some of you might have noticed already our website and Facebook were not accessible during the last weeks. We are very sorry about that.

Less than three weeks ago we received a letter from a well-known german hardware store saying that we would trespass their trademarks rights. First we believed it was a joke since we had always referred to the historical Bauhaus in a humorous way and reviews on e.g. www.bauhaus-online.de and our collaborations with Kunstverein Munich, Barbican Art Gallery, Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, MMK Frankfurt etc. had proved that a lot of people got the point. Apparently though businessmen don’t.

After realizing they were serious we entered into negotiations but discovered soon that the opposing party was not willing to agree to any compromises. We were then and still are asking ourselves: How is it possible that a hardware store occupies the name Bauhaus — a synonym for the most important art and architectural movement of the 20th century?

Our first impulse was to fight for MY BAUHAUS IS BETTER THAN YOURS by all means. But on second thought we understood how long it would take to fight against a company with millions of annual turnover and how much money it would cost. We decided to rather focus on our strengths: Realizing ideas, building our brand and developing conceptional furniture and fashion.

We are just as confident as we are curious. And very enthusiastic to direct into a NEW TENDENCY.
